Legacy Supported Living Team - Lisa

My name is Lisa Spreckley and I set up and manage Legacy Supported Living. I have 33 years’ experience working with people with learning disabilities and associated needs. I have worked with children and adults in many different environments, both with the County Council and the NHS.

I achieved my Registered Nursing BSc (Hons) in Nursing (Learning Disabilities) and worked as a Nurse before setting up Legacy. I have also achieved an NVQ Level 5 in Leadership and Management for Health and Social Care. I am currently studying towards a MTh in Theology and Disability.

I have a great passion for my work and believe that person-centred support is at the core of our values. The aim of Legacy is to enable people to develop their independence skills and self-esteem, alongside empowering people to make their own choices. I love working with people and have good communication skills and a sense of humour.

I love spending time with my children and being part of our local community. I volunteer in various roles at our local church and also volunteer as a Street Pastor. I am also a Trustee with the local Scout movement, supporting young people and contributing to our local community.

My interests include playing the piano and cello, reading, walking, camping, music, films, art and history.

What It Means to Families

We know that when we support one person, we also support the people who care for them. Here is what their families have to say.

” My brother has been looked after by Legacy Supported Living for 3 to 4 years now. They have matched the Support Staff to Kevin and he is so comfortable with them. He never used to connect with anyone but now he has a team who he relies on. Recently, he has had some difficult times, and the support has been invaluable for his wellbeing. They actually engage with him and help him in so many ways and do care about him. I am so glad we have them helping him and myself with understanding the ‘system’ . “

Lorraine

” Since moving care providers in 2024 to Legacy Supported Living Ltd, our son has truly blossomed, and as a family we have noticed a significant and very positive difference in him.
Legacy supports our son with all aspects of his care needs while, importantly, allowing him to make his own choices and decisions. His support workers provide guidance and encouragement when needed, whilst respecting his independence and individuality. This has helped him become more confident, content and settled.
We have seen how much he has “grown up” since being with Legacy. He is happier, more relaxed and has been given the opportunity to make choices about his own life. It is lovely to see him becoming more independent and comfortable in himself.
His support team are caring, patient and compassionate. They are relaxed and calm with him, which makes a real difference to his wellbeing. They always ensure that he is well cared for and presented beautifully, and we know that his health, safety and happiness are at the heart of the support they provide.
Communication with the support team is also excellent. They are approachable, easy to communicate with and always willing to listen.
We are extremely happy with the service Legacy provides. Most importantly, we can see that our son is happy and thriving. He has genuinely blossomed since being with Legacy, and we could not be happier with the care and support he receives. “

” It is now over Two Years since we have been using the Care Services offered by Legacy Supported Living & indeed my Parents were their first Elderly Couple requiring Support.
The Care, Cleaning, Personal Care & Supportive elements have remained consistent throughout this Time & this as been crucial for both ourselves & my Father since sadly my Mother passed away nearly Two Years ago. As a result increasing support has been necessary and the Support as been consistently high with my Father commenting how good all of the Team are and how well he is looked after.
Having come from a Medical Background ourselves we understand how important ‘Care at Home’ is and to witness how well the Individual Members of the Team ‘Care’ for my Father & importantly how the relationship from both sides works is a reassurance that also gives us ‘Peace of Mind’. “
